This Conference is available for practitioners working with children and families in Stoke-on-Trent.

What is it about?
To share the learning from two Local Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews (LCSPRs), which focus on the lived experiences of Child B and Child C and D. There is no relationship between the children, but there is some shared learning with regarding how neglect is understood, multi-agency working at a universal and early help level, support for children with additional needs, unconsidered men and their parenting role and whole family working where there are adult mental health and domestic abuse issues.
Who should attend?
Leaders, managers and frontline practitioners from organisations and agencies who form part of Stoke-on-Trent's Safeguarding arrangements.
Opportunities to reflect and learn with:
Suzy Kitching MBE (Review author) will share the key learning from these reviews with colleagues from the Police and Children's Services.
Jane Wiffin (Independent author with expertise in child neglect) will give a keynote presentation.
Outcomes
- Reflect on unconsidered fathers and the importance of their role.
- Strengthen the recognition of neglect and understanding of health and education attendance patterns.
- Appreciate how cultural issues could act as a barrier to accessing services.
- Increase understanding of the impact of parental mental health on children and family functioning.
- Strengthen knowledge and skills in understanding domestic abuse, including female perpetrators.
- Launch the Learning Resources associated with the reviews.
