Detail:

This course is available for people working with children and families in Staffordshire. For those working with children and families outside of Staffordshire please contact your local Safeguarding Children Partnership.

Participants must have undertaken Level 1 Child Protection training before attending this course.

This course will update your Level 2 certificate to continue to be the Designated/Deputy Safeguarding Lead in your organisation for another 2 years.

  • To have the time to stop & reflect
  • To understand the role and function of the National Panel and how they link with the safeguarding partners

  • To understand how reviews have influenced the legislation and the way in which reviews are conducted today

  • To understand serious incident notifications, Rapid Reviews and local Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews, the process and your roles and responsibilities within these reviews

  • To understand the learning from local reviews and what this means for me and my service area/ agency

  • To understand how reviews have reformed and shaped national guidance and legislation 

Please be advised that the course content includes information about current as well as historical reviews across Staffordshire. If you have been involved in any these cases, it is advisable that you speak to your line manager before enrolling to ensure you are supported.

Please make sure that you are aware if the course date you have booked on is face to face or webinar. All face to face events do not provide any drinks or catering.

Virtual Training – essential information

  • Your learning is important to us, please participate fully in the training. Where possible please have your camera on and treat this virtual learning as you would face to face, leaving behind emails and other work commitments.
  • Avoid interruptions by planning your training accordingly, this is your time.
  • We recommend using the Teams platform on a Laptop or desktop computer, a hand held device will not assist you in making the very best of your learning and continued professional development
  • Headsets or earphones are recommended for virtual training, however if these are unavailable you must make sure you are in a private space or quiet room to maintain concentration and confidentiality.
