We are delivering a series of five Child Exploitation Online Protection lunchtime learning sessions:


Session 1: Introduction to Children and Young People Online – Wednesday 26 April 2023

Session 2: Introduction to Online Child Sexual Abuse – Wednesday 5 July 2023

Session 3: Nude Image Sharing/Sexting – Friday 15 September 2023

Session 4: Introduction to Live Streaming – Friday 1 December 2023

Session 5: Introduction to the Dark Web – Wednesday 7 February 2024

Aims of this session (4):

This training session aims to explore the specific risks presented by live streaming platform and give learners the knowledge of how to respond to these risks.

 

Why is this important?

As professionals, it is important to stay well-informed of the latest trends and topics relating to online safety that children and young people are using. The popularity of live streaming platforms is continuing to rise and the feature is appearing on more and more apps and platforms that young people are using. In response to this, professionals must understand why it is so popular amongst young people and the potential risks it presents.

 

The training session will cover the following:

  • Definition of live streaming – what it is, how and where it is used
  • The social web framework and its application
  • The potential harms of live streaming for children
  • Children’s development and vulnerability factors
  • The impact of online sexual abuse on children
  • The protective factors that can support and protect children
