This course is available for people working with children and families in Stoke-on-Trent. For those working with children and families outside of Stoke-on-Trent, please contact your local Safeguarding Children Partnership.

Participants must have undertaken Level 1 Child Protection training before attending this course.

 

TRAINING COST:

This course is FREE for all agencies

 

Audience:

All staff who provide early help support to children and families within Stoke-on-Trent.

Example of roles that would meet course criteria:
The training would support any professional providing early intervention support to families, including (but not limited to):

  • School home-school link workers
  • Safeguarding officers from schools, colleges and alternative provisions
  • Members of a school inclusion team
  • Health visitors
  • Education Welfare Officers
  • Support workers working with families in the charity or health sector
  • Youth Offending officers
  • Workers in early years settings such as nurseries
  • Staff working in community play schemes
  • Sports club welfare officers

 

Description:

This one-day training session, delivered by licenced trainers, is to support staff to gain an awareness of what is meant by parental conflict and how this can affect relationships. You will also gather an understanding of what the impact of poorly resolved conflict can have on a child and an introduction of useful tools, tips and resources that can be used when supporting children and families to reduce parental conflict.

 

Session Objectives:

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  • Have a good understanding of what is parental conflict
  • Identify where parental conflict may be having an impact on a child
  • Have an awareness of useful tools, tips and resources to support children and families where there is conflict within the family
