STAFFORDSHIRE ONLY - Level 3 Domestic Abuse and the Impact on the Child Multi-agency Training

This course is available for people working with children and families in Staffordshire. For those working with children and families outside of Staffordshire please contact your local Safeguarding Children Partnership.

Participants must have undertaken Level 1 Child Protection training before attending this course.

This course will update your Level 2 certificate to continue to be the Designated/Deputy Safeguarding Lead in your organisation for another 2 years.

Learning Outcomes:

• Signs & indicators of domestic abuse.
• A greater awareness of the prevalence & diversity of domestic abuse.
• To understand the Domestic Abuse Bill.
• To understand how domestic abuse impacts on children.
• To understand the increased risk to children where there is evidence of domestic abuse.
• To understand the barriers to children disclosing domestic abuse and the viewpoint of the child.
• To promote the importance of multi-agency working and cooperation.
• Understanding of the SSCP procedures and guidance in particular the Threshold Framework and the Escalation Policy.
• Using Restorative Practice to understand the importance of the child’s voice and the ‘child’s lived experience’ even if unable to communicate.
• Highlight the lessons learnt from national and Staffordshire child safeguarding practice reviews, including rapid reviews (where relevant)
